PASSIVE : Shaco’s basic attacks poison his targets on-hit, Slow icon slowing them for 2 seconds and giving minions and monster a chance to miss their basic attacks.
ACTIVE : Shaco throws a dagger at a target enemy dealing magic damage and applying his Slow poison to them for 3 seconds. The passive is deactivated during the cooldown.
- Slow : 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30%
- Miss chance to minions and monsters : 20 / 22.5 / 25 / 27.5 / 30%
- Magic damage : 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 (+ 100% AP) (+ 100% bonus AD)
Some words
Even if I will have much less to say about this one than all others abilities, this targetted spell is a great addition to the overall Shaco’s assassin kit.
His passive provides a perma-slow when chasing champions, and some sutain over the jungle, and his active is a great finisher / burst.
Questions & Answers
Does backstab applies ?
Yes, if the projectile hits the back of the target. It grants 20% bonus damage on top.
It beneficies from both AD and AP. Is a hybrid Shaco build viable ?
I don’t think so, well not in the pure hybrid fashion.
Even if it makes sense for E, hybrid Shaco will just end having flaws from both AD and AP Shaco. AD Shaco relies too much on attack speed and crits, and AP Shaco on massive burst and CDR.
In my opinion E scaling both and AD and AP allows each path for Shaco (AD or AP), and also add some DPs when playing early Sheen.
Still note that 3 out of 4 Shaco’s abilities are magic damage, making Sorcerer’s boots viable even on AD Shaco.
In this tanky meta, an alternative hybrid Shaco build, that I currently use, consist in itemisation : Devorer enchant coupled with Blade of the Ruined King provides great Attack speed, sustain and both AD & AP damages. It also helps Shaco scales better in late game & denies pure armor/hp stackers.
Passive
Perma-slow 10% to 30%. This is a built-in Frozen Mallet.
Enemy midlaner too pushed & out of mana ? Free kill yay !
Always abuse the passive at his maximum & use the active only when your target is out of range (jump/dashed/flash away) to catch back OR to execute.
Note : Since S5, if you play it consider use Stalker’s blade Smite before/instead of using your E active. Remember that the E active effect applies the slow for 2 seconds, and as a 6 seconds cooldown, leaving your target slowless for 6 to 4 seconds, depending on CDR.
This is very important when ganking or teamfighting if you wanna be efficient.
Jungle monsters (except drake & baron) blind chance 20% to 30%. Might not sound great but it really is, especially with season 5 hard hitting mobs.
Starting level 1 W Jack in the box & level 2 E Two-shiv poison allows a great sustain over the first road.
Note : Same thing for jungle mobs as for champions : don’t use the active effect in order to perma blind them. This is especially usefull early.
Once you got your sustain item, feel free to spam it if you got blue buff.
Active
Not too much too say, it’s a single target spell with decent burst, stacking on both AD & AP (cf. Q&A).
It deals magic damages, so Sorcerer’s boots will be profitable.
Consider using it coupled with “Target Champion Only” in order to avoid fail locks on creeps.
Denials & interactions
Passive effect doesn’t get denied by Banshee. It won’t proc the shield & will apply the slow. The active effect is denied though.
As a projectile, it will get denied by Yasuo W Wind wall & Braum E Unbreakable.
Passive & active effects are denied by Morgana’s Black shield, Olaf R Ragnarok & other abilities blockers.
Magic damage, will get denied by Hexdrinker/Maw of malmortius shield.
This ability can wiff (been canceled) when you lost the vision on the targetted enemy(enters brushes mostly) : Animation start & cancels, or sometiems even fire the projectile & it disapear mid air. In those case the cooldown is usually refunded.
